Hi! I'm Anne. This is a blog I'm starting to document my clothing choices so I can reflect back and figure out what my personal style is, as well as trying to control my spending to just get the things I really want (instead of ten crappy Old Navy tank tops or whatever).
Things I know so far:

  • I need my clothing to be practical, first and foremost. I work in a high-risk job that requires me to look professional but be ready to physically intervene at any time.  I can rarely wear skirts to work, and heels are problematic.
  • I need my clothing to be comfortable. I have a low tolerance for uncomfortable clothes- it doesn't matter how cute my outfit or clothes are- if it's too tight, too small, restricts my movement or leaves a cicatrice it's not getting worn often.
  • I love bright colors! Marigold yellow is my favorite and I'm a huge sucker for jewel tones.
  • My best physical features are my strong arms and legs, big brown eyes, and big butt. Right now I run about a US20 or 1x in average clothing sizes.
  • My least favorite parts of my body include my smallish and uneven breasts, flabby-looking back and significant FUPA. I had a traumatic appendectomy post rupture when I was ten, the surgery for which really screwed with my lower abdominal muscles. My body just loves to deposit adipose tissue in that area, and boy is it tough to remove. It's a part of my body that insists on being soft and jiggly regardless of my body weight, and I'm still struggling to build love for that part of my body.
  • I am a plump lady, but I am strong and healthy. I come from a long line of women who struggled with their weight, but an even longer line of women who survived famines, wars, and traumatic childbirth. My ancestors killed bears, built ships, and crossed oceans, and my body's tendency to hang on to calories whenever possible is part of that genetic legacy.
That's all for now. I'll post some outfit photos soon.
